September 1st: Move-In Day

On the eve of September 1st, there is a constant stream of U-Haul trucks on almost every corner, parking signs taped to trees, mattresses being finagled out of doorways, and parents double parked on the street.

Boston's rental cycle mostly run on two dates: June 1st and September 1st, although September is definitely the busiest of the two. Students are coming back to campus for the semester and graduates are often moving into their first apartment off campus after a summer at home.

We'll see what tomorrow has in store but today was actually very relaxed. I don't think as many people moved this rental season, which means a lot of inventory is still available. I'm seeing a lot of dropping prices and more negotiations which is great if you don't need to move until later in the month or even October 1st.

If you are still on the hunt for an apartment, start putting out feelers on September 2nd. Tomorrow will be hectic so it's best to let the new move-ins get settled, but then contact us to learn about the great deals that are out there!
