Renting in Time

During this busy rental season spanning from around May until September, I wanted to address the question of timing your apartment hunt.
My first piece of advice is not to panic about missing out on the inventory. Typically, landlords and management companies will receive notice sixty days prior to the end of a lease. That means if you're looking to move on September 1st, additional options will become available in the beginning of July.
There isn't a magical formula to time your search, however knowing the rental cycle of real estate in the area will certainly help. Looking at the inventory online through a Realtor is a great way to get a feel for your options.
If you see something that meets your criteria, jump on it! Why wait if it's right for you? If you haven't found it yet, give the market some time to turn over new inventory.
