Newbury at a Glance

Being a native Californian, I look at Newbury Street as a Rodeo Drive with a New England feel.
In the Back Bay, Newbury Street runs from the Public Gardens to Mass Ave with side streets stemming off alphabetically beginning at the Public Gardens starting with Arlington and ending with Mass Ave. There are also two green-line T stops conveniently located on Newbury including Arlington and the Hynes Convention Center.
While Newbury Street features many high end stores and dining options, it also includes affordable options which appeal to college students and young professionals.
Trident Café holds a Newbury Street address and is just steps away from Mass Ave. This funky book store and café is a great place to grab a cup of coffee and a good book. Walk a few feet closer to Mass Ave and you’ll stumble upon Newbury Comics or Urban Outfitters just across the street.
Deciding on a restaurant is an event in itself with a wide range of delicious options. As a treat my friends and I sit outside at Stephanie’s Restaurant located between Dartmouth and Exeter. We’re also big fans of Charley’s. The majority of the restaurants open up seating outside during the spring and summer, making Newbury a fun place to enjoy the nice weather.
J.P. Licks closer to Mass Ave on Newbury is also a great stop on a summer night to have an ice cream, stroll down the street and people watch. There is usually a musician playing nearby and local artists displaying their art, which adds so much to the exciting and busy street known as Newbury.
