‘Tis the season… to avoid being the embarrassing story after the company holiday party! Make a great impression with your boss and co-workers by following these tips:

1. Make an Appearance - Even if you're nervous about the party, don’t skip out. It’s a great time to mingle with co-workers you don’t see all the time and get to know a different side of your colleagues.

2. Dress Appropriately - Ask about the attire if you're unsure. No one wants to show up in a cocktail dress when everyone else is business casual. And don’t use your company party as an excuse to wear the extra tight outfit you just bought!

3. Check on Guests - Find out what the status is on bringing a guest. It's great to bring a friend or spouse, but only if they're invited. And make sure to prep them before the party on who will be there and any awkward conversations to avoid.

4. Careful on the Drinks - If you have had a few too many, excuse yourself and head home for the evening. Don’t get to the point where someone else has to find you a cab. Side tip – eat a little snack before the party, it may help mitigate the effects of that first drink.

5. Don’t Gossip - Gossiping in any work environment is a bad idea, including social events. You never know who's listening and they may tell the boss that you were trashing their management style at the party.

6. Show Gratitude - Say thank you to the folks throwing the party. It takes a lot of work to organize one and a nice thank you is always a welcome touch.
